Dec Recommends #1

Okay I got a bit sick of the most clicked menu being Nick recommends, so I’ve decided to make my own page for recommending things (although I wish i could think of a better name than “Dec Recommends”). Mostly I think it’s going to be youtube clips of stuff I like (because clearly there’s not enough people posting youtube clips on the internet), that i want other people to like, but not too much because they’re my things, so please keep your enthusiasm/excitement/care factor hovering somewhere around “moderately intrigued”. Here goes…

The Black Keys/RZA – The Baddest Man Alive.

I can’t believe I’m looking forward to a Russell Crowe film as much as Man with the Iron Fists. The jury has always been a bit out on Russell Crowe. Everytime I start really liking one of his movies, I remember that he also wrote a song called “Swallow my Gift” and then I immediately stop liking it as much, but the fact he has done a kung-fu movie with RZA is enough to grant him a temporary amnesty. In interviews RZA is even referring to Russell Crowe as his brother, although if RZA ever turns up on stage to duet with Russell on any of his songs, then I’ll have to let them both go. Anyway, speaking of duets, this is off the soundtrack for the movie, and it’s better than anything on the whole of The Black Keys last album. Plus the clip is awesome.

And pretty sure you can stream the whole album for the next few days from here.

And if that hasn’t got you excited enough, here’s the trailer from the movie.

And finally here’s one more RZA track. I have no idea who Alexander is, but I googled the song after I heard it on Breaking Bad, and then found this version which has been remixed by RZA. From the moment RZA slurs the word “Truth” at the beginning of the clip, this version is infinitely better. Plus I really songs with whistling.

And if you made it to the bottom of my first post, then here’s your reward…

As rewards go, that’s quite disturbing.
